Overview

Positioned in an ecological ‘sweet spot’, the region that surrounds Wild Ivory Eco Lodge is comprised of nutrient-rich grasslands that unfold over the sprawling savannah of Welgevonden. As such it is the most attractive region for grazing game, which in turn draws a large quantity of predators to the area.

Situated far from human habitation and disturbance, Wild Ivory is designed to exist in harmony with nature’s purity and raw beauty. The lodge is eco-friendly, low impact and provides the perfect base for those seeking an unadulterated connection with the bush. An exclusive number of guests who prize the serene hush of African wilderness will find sanctuary in the barefoot luxury of Wild Ivory.

This is an ideal destination for solo travellers, groups of friends, couples and families

Accommodation

Catering for a maximum of ten guests, Wild Ivory’s luxury tents are positioned in the hush of one of Welgevonden’s most secluded regions. Canvas tents are naturally temperature controlled and, elevated on natural stone, offer beautiful views over the wooded valley below. With an emphasis on clean and crisp fabrics, the minimalist design of each airy room allows the spectacular surrounds to make the biggest impact.

Large double beds and inviting loungers on private patios offer comfortable spots for taking in the sights and sounds of the bush. Classic bathrooms with ample baths as well as outside showers boast equally stunning views, enveloped by nature.

Wildlife

The Welgevonden Private Game Reserve is a well established sanctuary for some of Africa’s most endangered animals. Well stocked with the lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalos and leopards that make up the Big Five, numerous other mammal species roam within the reserve, uninhibited by human interference. The reserve also offers some of the best White Rhino and cheetah sightings in southern Africa.

The Waterberg area was established as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve almost a decade ago and is conserved to the strictest standards as an outstanding example of African heritage and natural wonder. Sweet grasses and a private waterhole attract an abundance of wildlife to the lodge itself.
