Accommodation

Thornybush Nature Reserve’s exclusive private Thornybush Game Lodge provides accommodation consisting of stylish air-conditioned suites, with extensive living areas overlooking the seasonal Monwana River. There are 18 suites, 2 family suites and accommodation caters for a maximum of 40 people collectively.

From within the sumptuous individual suites, each with full en-suite facilities, outdoor shower and private decks, sweeping vistas over the savannah and ever active water hole can be enjoyed. Bathrooms boast large glass windows, offering unique game viewing in & past the river bed. Superb attention to detail and highly personalised service make for a memorable stay.

Wildlife

Thornybush Nature Reserve, located directly next to the Kruger National Park is home to many of the same species – servicing a huge wildlife spotting demand from its guests, including big five spotting, and more than sixty other species such as hyena and cheetah, antelope, zebra, giraffe, as well as more than 280 bird species for the avid watcher’s delight.

Thornybush Game Lodge provides well-equipped conferencing facilities that host up to 60 delegates, in the pristine surrounds of the lodge, which is situated close to the Kruger National Park. They offer a range of activities for incentive options or team building exercises, as well as a variety of additional services and entertainment facilities including a wellness spa and bush excursions. Thornybush offers ample accommodation in its secluded suites, which, together with a sublime menu and unrivalled game viewing, offers guests a truly luxurious five-star experience.

Children’s rates are based on guests under the age of 12 years sharing with 2 parents, children under the age of 2 stays free of charge
Babysitting services are available, at an additional cost at lodges
All children permitted on the game drive are done so at Management’s discretion, children under the age of 6 years are not permitted on the game drive.Children under the age of 16 years are not permitted on bush walks

Self-dive instructions:
From Johannesburg to Thornybush Game Lodge:
The N12 to Emalahleni (Witbank), where the N12 highway links up with the N4 highway,continue with the N4 in the direction Mbombela (Nelspruit).Approximately 60 km past Middleburg take the R 540 to your left,travel though the towns of eMakhazeni (Belfast) and eMnotweni (Dullstroom) to Mashishing (Lydenburg) ,take the R 36 (which becomes the R 527) towards Hoedspruit, passing through Origstad and descending down the Able Erasmus Pass.At Hoedspruit take the R 40 south towards Bushbuckridge,continue 6 km and turn left at the Eastgate Airport sign / Argyle Road,Continue 14 km (tarred road) and turn right onto Guernsey Road (following the signs to Thornybush Reserve).Continue 11km (gravel road) and turn left into the Thornybush Game Reserve gate,guests checking in at Thornybush Game Lodge and nKelenga to follow signage to Thornybush Game Lodge. Nkelenga Guests will be collected from Thornybush Game Lodge,guests checking in at Chapungu Tented Camp, follow signage for Thornybush Game Lodge and continue to Chapungu Tented Camp as directed once in the Reserve.Guests checking in at Thornybush Waterside Lodge, Shumbalala, Monwana, Serondella, n’Kaya, follow directions to Thornybush Waterside Lodge once through the Main Gate. Shumbalala, Monwana, Serondella and n’Kaya Guests will be collected from Thornybush Waterside Lodge.
