The first glimpse of the Chobe River, dazzlingly blue in the dry, sandy terrain, is breath taking. During the dry winter months, large herds of elephant and Cape buffalo converge on this beautiful riverfront. On an afternoon game drive along the bends of the river, you may see hundreds of the 50 000 resident elephants at one time and up to 15 other mammal species gathering to slake their thirst. Rarities found here include the puku, sable and roan antelope.

River cruises give visitors a different game viewing perspective, and the possibility to view the plethora of waterbirds. Chobe is a premier bird-safari venue, with over 460 bird species recorded in the park.
