Simbambili Lodge

Overview

Sabi Sands Game Reserve, the “birthplace” of sustainable wilderness tourism and development in Sub-Saharan Africa, loved by by guests and staff alike as a place of wilderness, wildlife and adventure. Home to the extensive Mpumalanga cross-section of wildlife, including the Big Five and various endangered species, the park also shares 50 kilometers of its unfenced boundary line with neighbouring Kruger National Park. Animals pass casually between the two parks, unhindered and abundant.

Simbambili Game Lodge hides behind lush clusters of jackalberry trees, silently watching as the nimble Manyeleti River rushes past. Virtually within earshot of the legendary Kruger National Park, Simbambili is home to the well known Simbambili Leopard Project, and is made all the more exclusive by its small size.

Accommodation

Eight suites are available at Simbambili, all with breathtaking views of the surrounding savanna, as well as air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms, mini-bars, private viewing decks, plunge pools, and an outdoor shower and bath.

Wildlife

Simbambili Lodge plays home to roaming, typically-camera-friendly groups of buffalo, lion, white rhino, zebra, waterbuck, giraffe, leopard, kudu, and a huge variety of other bird and animal species.

Simbambili does not cater for children, unless the lodge is booked exclusively.
Please note that there might be a Simbambili Gate fee at Sabi Sands Reserve.

Directions

Self-dive instructions:
The N12 to eMalahleni (Witbank), where the N12 highway links up with the N4 highway,continue with the N4 in the direction Mbombela (Nelspruit).Approximately 30 km past Middleburg take the R 540 to your left,travel through the town of eMakhazeni (Belfast) and eMnotweni (Dullstroom) to Mashishing (Lydenburg).Take the R 36 (which becomes the R 527) towards Hoedspruit, passing through Ohrigstad and descending down the Able Erasmus Pass.
Approximately 68 km past Ohrigstad take the R 531 to your right,continue 33 km and towards Bushbuckridge , turn left at Acornhoek and travel through Acornhoek ,continue on road until you get to Hluvukani (33 km)
At Hluvukani you will see the Viva Garage on your right.

Continue straight 7 km on a tar road towards Manyelethi,turn right at the Seville A Sabi Sand sign, this is a dirt road,continue on this road for 6.5 km until you reach a T-junction always following Sabi Sand signs
Turn left at this T-Junction,you will pass the villages of Utah and Dixie. From the Utah Trading Store, which is on your right, it is about 7.2km until you reach the Gowrie Gate entrance to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.Here you will be required to pay an entrance fee of R190.00 (per vehicle) and R50 per person.

Please note the Gowrie Gate is only open between 5:00am (05h00) 11:00pm (23h00).
Turn immediately right at the Gowrie Gate, and follow the fence line to the Lodge.
Simbambili is approximately 6km from Gowrie Gate.
DO NOT GO TO ANY OTHER GATE THAN GOWRIE GATE. YOU CAN NOT ENTER THE RESERVE AT ANY OTHER GATE TO GET TO SIMBAMBILI.
