Overview

The Singita Explore Mobile Tented Camp is situated within the magnificent Singita Grumeti Reserves, in Northern Tanzania. The reserves cover 350 000 acres of pristine wilderness, which is adjoined to the Western Corridor of the Serengeti. As there is no fencing, the wildlife migrates freely between the National Park and the reserves. The Grumeti concession was created to preserve the vast biodiversity of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem, and protect the path of the annual wildebeest migration.  Singita now manages this concession, with the objective of ensuring long-term sustainability through low-impact tourism.

The camp is a sole-use back-to-basics mobile camp offering guests a true safari adventure. Booked on an exclusive basis for three to seven days, the camp is set up according to the movement of the animals, which ensures guests of some truly incredible wildlife sightings.

Specifically designed to have minimal environmental impact, the camp still delivers an exclusive and extremely comfortable safari experience.

This safari experience is perfect for those solo travellers who love to explore, couples looking for a romantic getaway and families who enjoy the best of their surroundings.

Wildlife

The Serengeti is renowned for the annual wildebeest migration, when two million ungulates move across the plains in search of grazing and water. The predators closely follow the wildebeest and zebra, looking for easy pickings.

The best time to see the Great Annual Migration is February through to March, when the wildebeest and zebra have their young. Not only will guests enjoy seeing baby animals, but the predators are at the highest number too. The migration usually moves out of the Serengeti area by the end of June and does not return until December.

However, the reserve teems with wildlife throughout the year. This includes impalas, Masai giraffe, warthogs, topi, gazelles, hyenas, lions, leopards, cheetahs and caracals. Guests are treated to frequent sightings of the Big Five during their stay, as well as the rare Colobus monkey. Bat-eared fox and serval are among regularly seen smaller carnivores.

Bird life is prolific, with over 450 species recorded in the region ranging from the huge ostrich to the little spotted woodpecker. Specialties include the Red-capped robin chat and Black-headed gonolek. Other notable sightings include Kori bustard, Secretary birds, Marabou storks, lovebirds, Martial eagle and a variety of vulture species.
