The Victoria Falls hotel is located within the Victoria Falls National Park, a World Heritage Site, and overlooks the natural wonder. Built in 1904, the five star Victoria Falls Hotel, also known as the ‘grand old lady of the Falls”, was the first hotel to be built in the area.

The grand Edwardian-era hotel is just a short stroll down a private footpath from the magnificent Victoria Falls, and offers unobstructed views of the ‘Smoke that Thunders’ and the majestic Victoria Falls bridge. The hotel is perfectly positioned to enjoy the facilities of Victoria Falls to the full. The sophisticated Victoria Falls Hotel offers a total of 161 rooms, all exuding Edwardian charm and elegance. In addition to Standard, Traditional and Deluxe rooms, there are seven spacious Junior Suites, four romantic Honeymoon Suites, six luxurious Executive Suites, and the sumptuously indulgent Royal Suite. Interleading rooms are also available.

All rooms have full en-suite bathrooms with corner baths and separate showers, air-conditioning, and all the modern amenities expected of a five star hotel.

Wildlife

The Victoria Falls Hotel can arrange game drives or bush walks in Victoria Falls (Mosi-Oa-Tunya) National Park, home to the Big Five. The endangered black rhino was introduced to the Victoria Falls Game Reserve in 2006 in a ground-breaking operation, which has seen black rhino return to the area for the first time in 50 years. Guests may also encounter giraffe, zebra, warthog, sable antelope, kudu, eland, tsessebe, waterbuck and the elusive grey duiker.

Over 600 species of birds are found in the region. The best birding is along the Zambezi River, upstream from the Falls, and in the rain forest section of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. Riverine bird life is plentiful with egrets, herons, cormorants, fish eagles and kingfishers. Specialities include Bradfield’s hornbill, marabou storks, the iconic African Fish Eagle, Verreauxs’ Eagle, Paradise flycatcher, and Lilac-breasted roller.
