Sabi Sand Game Reserve, the “birthplace” of sustainable wilderness tourism and development in Sub-Saharan Africa, loved by guests and staff alike as a place of wilderness, wildlife and adventure. Home to the extensive Mpumalanga cross-section of wildlife, including the Big Five and various endangered species, the park also shares 50 kilometers of its unfenced boundary line with neighbouring Kruger National Park. Animals pass casually between the two parks, unhindered and abundant.

Notten’s Bush Camp is established on a privately owned region of the greater Sabi, and plays home to one of South Africa’s most valued natural ecosystems. Unfenced and completely open to the huge variety of wildlife in the area, Notten’s is also home to a team of trained and experienced Shangaan trackers who ensure a holistic introduction into the wilds of the area.

Accommodation

Accommodation at Notten’s consists of exclusive safari suites, with open plan bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor shower facilities, ceiling fans, insect coils to protect against mosquitoes, and private decks. Lighting is not electric, but paraffin powered.

Wildlife

Just like many of the camps in this area, Notten’s is home to impressive selections of Big Five and various other animal groups, all of which have spent so much time in the park that the presence of tourists and rangers has ceased to startle them – making game viewing a pleasure. Hyena are also regularly spotted in the area, as well as grey duiker, kudu, bushbuck impala, common waterbuck, and nyala, elephant, white rhino, buffalo, and giraffe.

There are also 303 bird species native to this area, and are a regularly snapshot delight – especially on guided walking tours of the area.

• BY AIR:

• Transfers from the Mala Mala Airfield are available on request.

• BY ROAD:

• Coming from Johannesburg, take the N12 highway to eMalahleni (Witbank).

• Just before eMalahleni (Witbank), the N12 joins the N4 highway.

• Continue on the N4 highway to Nelspruit.

• From here, take the R40 to White River and then on to Hazyview.

• At Hazyview, take the R536 towards Paul Kruger Gate and Skukuza.

• After 37 km you will see the Notten’s sign.

• Turn off to your left onto a dirt road.

• Travel for 7 km and you will get to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve Gate.

• You will need to pay a gate entrance fee of R160 per vehicle and R40 per person. The entrance fee can only be confirmed at the time of making your reservation (Prices subject to change)

• Then follow the Notten’s signs.
