Wildlife

The Nwanetsi Concession covers four distinct ecological zones, with a great biodiversity of birds and wildlife. The area is home to the Big Five, including famously large prides of Mountain lion. In addition, there are frequent sightings of cheetah, wild dog, hyena, giraffe, zebra, sable, waterbuck, hippo, wildebeest, kudu, and crocodile.

Birdlife is prolific with over 300 species recorded in the region. Five vulture species are present: White-backed, Lappet-faced, White-headed, Hooded, and less frequently, the Cape vulture. The red-billed, and the endangered yellow-billed oxpeckers, are also residents of the region. Other notable species include the African Pipit, Chestnut-backed sparrow-lark, Harlequin quail, and Southern black tit.
