Klaserie River Safari Lodge

Overview

Klaserie River Safari Lodge is located in a private game reserve in the Greater Kruger area, right on the banks of the burgeoning Klaserie River. This highly acclaimed region of South Africa is on the doorstep of the Kruger Park, the Blyde River Canyon, and the Panorama Route, which are some of the country’s greatest attractions. Riverfront chalets are blissfully private and overlook the fish-filled waters lined with lush reeds and tall riverine trees.

Game drives take place in the revered Big 5 Thornybush Game Reserve and include a drinks stop at sunset, while bush walks are conducted on Klaserie River Safari Lodge’s private property.

Accommodation

With 11 thatched chalets are located along the Klaserie River, each room has a shaded wooden deck with chairs and a table from which to enjoy the view and the bird activity in the surrounding riverine trees. A host of water-loving wildlife visits the papyrus-lined channel in front of guest rooms.

Two of the chalets share an inter-leading door, which is designed for a family travelling with children. The accommodation is modern and comfortable with big glass windows to enhance the river views, and cool tiled floors throughout the bedroom and bathroom.

The swimming pools, bar, and boma area are situated close to the rooms allowing for effortless movement throughout the camp, and there are no fences to separate the wildlife from the lodge.

Wildlife

Klaserie Game Reserve is known for its free roaming and extensive antelope populations, as well as exciting Big Five groupings (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo) and vast bird populations to please any spotter.

Children from 3 years of age are welcome at Klaserie River Safari Lodge, but parents are reminded that it is an unfenced camp and children are to be supervised at all times

Directions

From Johannesburg:
Take the N4 highway to witbank/eMalahleni. Follow the N4 highway past Middleburg (Toll Plaza), Belfast and Machadadorp (Toll Plaza). Follow the Schoemanskloof option on the N4 and then take the R36 to Lydenburg. Follow the R36 to Ohrigstad, go through the Strydom Tunnel and take the R527 to Hoedspruit. Turn right onto the R40 towards Klaserie, and continue 6km until the turnoff (left) for Eastgate Airport. Turn here and pass through the control gate where Kapama Game Reserve is on your right. You will pass Eastgate Airport on your left – continue straight for 16km until you turn right onto the Guernsey Road (dirt road). Continue on the Guernsey Road for 10km until you see the gates to Klaserie River Safari Lodge on the right (sign appears 100m before the gate).
