Nestled between the Waterberg Mountains in the northern reaches of the Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, Jamila Game Lodge’s safari experience is relaxed and intimate. Inhabited by a variety of birds and mammal species, including Africa’s famous Big 5, nearly 35,000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness surrounds the lodge.

The lodge is open to only a limited amount of guests at any time, keeping the lodge and safaris exclusive and intimate, without the impersonal service of commercial game reserves, allowing your experience to be a tranquil and memorable one. Just a pleasant countryside drive away from the bustle of nearby Johannesburg, the malaria-free lodge awaits those seeking an indulgent bush break.

Accommodation

Accommodation at Jamila is amply provided by a selection of stylish bungalows, each with individual viewing decks and private Jacuzzis. Standard and Luxury Bungalows are perfect for sharing, furnished with either two single beds or a spacious king-size bed. The Family Bungalow includes two double sleeper couches, as well as a bar and entertainment area and a fireplace.

All rooms have spectacular views of the bush and are luxuriously furnished and well appointed with ample amenities. Outdoor showers will help you stay cool in the heat of the savannah and, in winter, you can tuck into fluffy complimentary robes and curl up with a book.

Wildlife

Welgevonden is a Big Five game reserve, meaning guests share the 35,000 hectares of wilderness with lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos and rhinos as well as many other species of game and an estimated 300 species of birds.

Reclaimed from its previous incarnation as farmland, the re-establishment of wildlife to this area has trebled the game population over five years and provides a sanctuary to some of Africa’s most endangered species, including the White Rhino. The bushveld savannah is a paradise for grazers and predators alike and is all surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Waterberg Biosphere’s mountains and valleys.

The Welgevonden Game Reserve charges a conservation fee of R120.00 pppd, this applies to all ages.

• Transfers to lodge are available

• BY ROAD:

Take the N1 north to Polokwane and pass the Kranskop toll gate.

Stay left, heading towards Nylstroom Marble Hall.

At the T-junction turn left towards Nylstroom (Modimolle) and continue straight on for approximately 70 km to Vaalwater.

Continue through Vaalwater on the Thabazimbi road for approximately 24 km and turn left at the Welgevonden main gate.

Carry on past the Main Gate for approximately 22 km until you come to Schoongelegen Road which is a gravel road.

Turn left into Schoongelegen Road and carry on for about 17 km until you reach Welgevonden West Gate on your left hand side.
