Aquila Game Reserve is a four star establishment and boasts all the features associated with an exceptional safari lodge. The reserve is 7500 hectare conservancy in the southern Karoo, and home to the big 5 legends of the wilderness. Elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and rhino, synonymous with Africa, roam the outskirts.

Accommodation

Aquila Private Game Reserve is basically wedged between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains, in the Klein Karoo. Setting the scene are spellbinding landscapes, carpets of wild flowers and wildlife.

Aquila has two large swimming pools, each with a pool bar, overlooking the reserve. There is a large African-style dining area, and two smaller dining areas – all with blazing log fires and smoky cigar bars. There is also a library, curio shop and children’s entertainment area.

The reserve brings the outdoors in by using earthly decor like browns and beiges, thatch, slate and rock elements. Special attention has been paid to chalet privacy and unbridled picture perfect views of the reserve.

Aquila Game Reserve is located in Touwsrivier, is under two hours drive from Cape Town. Aquila is an ideal executive getaway and Cape Town conference centre. There are a variety of room set-ups possible, full catering amenities and stately conferencing equipment.

Aquila Game Reserve has a conference centre with a dance floor and buffet area. The conference centre can seat up to 92 pax. There are two break away rooms too and an option to strategise in the Boma restaurant. Aquila has an impressive activities list. Traditional game drives, safaris on horseback, quad biking, 4 x 4 mountain trails, visits to ancient rock art sites, golf and cherry picking in the valley.

By road
Follow the N1 highway from Cape Town for approximately 130km.
The road will take you past Paarl, through the Huguenot tunnel, past Worcester, De Doorns and through the Hex River Valley.
Approximately 30 km after De Doorns and just past the road sign indicating “10km to Touws River,” you will get to the R46 turnoff to Ceres.
Take the turnoff to the left. Follow the road for approximately 3km.
You will find the Aquila Private Game Reserve main entrance on your left hand side.
