Sabi Sands Game Reserve, the “birthplace” of sustainable wilderness tourism and development in Sub-Saharan Africa, loved by guests and staff alike as a place of wilderness, wildlife and adventure. Home to the extensive Mpumalanga cross-section of wildlife, including the Big Five and various endangered species, the park also shares 50 kilometers of its unfenced boundary line with neighbouring Kruger National Park. Animals pass casually between the two parks, unhindered and abundant.

The reserve’s nearby dams and the lodge’s waterholes attract numerous species for the viewing pleasure of guests, most notably the daily elephant visits in the winter.

Three Executive Suites are available for accommodation at Savanna, with tented roofs, wooden decks and private plunge pools, air conditioning, a large bedroom with lounge area, bathroom with a large bath and double shower, an outdoor shower, fully stocked mini bars and coffee stations, built in electronic safes, a telephone, and mosquito netted beds

Four Luxury en suite Suites are also provided, with tented roofs, air conditioning, a fully stocked mini bar and coffee station, built-in electronic safes, bedroom telephones, and private verandahs with fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding bush

The thatched Savanna Suite is made up of two unique, en suite bedrooms, a large lounge and dining room area, all with air conditioning, a built-in electronic safe, bedroom and lounge telephones, a bathroom with large bath and double shower, an outdoor shower, a fully stocked mini bar and coffee stations in both bedrooms, a fireplace in the lounge, fully equipped kitchen, wooden decks and private plunge pools attached to each bedroom, along with floodlit waterholes, televisions with multichannel access and DVD player/recorders, and mosquito netted bedding. Additionally, private meals can be requested in the Savanna Suite, and personal game trackers or rangers and private game vehicles are available

Wildlife

With over ten thousand hectares of bushveld game loves to frequent the Savanna Reserve. This includes lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard, elephant, cheetah, and hippo, among many others. There are also around 450 bird species ready to be viewed, and twice-daily game drives conducted by eager and qualified game rangers and trackers. Sabi Sands is renowned for sporting the best leopard viewing in the world.

Wedding Facilities

When the entire camp is booked out, wedding facilities are available for up to 18 guests. Standard rates apply, per head, as well as an added service charge for the wedding itself, bringing the total price for booking to R5100 00.

Inclusions and services

Included in the price of a wedding here are the presence of a minister, legal documents, the groom’s buttonhole and the bride’s bouquet, wedding cake, and a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine for the bridal couple.

Additional equipment, decorations, or utilities will need to be hired through the lodge itself, at an additional cost.

Children
The reserve does not accommodate children under the age of eight years, unless the whole camp or the whole Savanna Suite is booked.
Children 8-16 years, sharing with an adult pay 50% of the full rate.
Children 17 years and older, full adult rate will apply.

Directions

BY AIR:

• There are daily scheduled flights on Airlink from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA).

 

• Transfer can be arranged.

• Guests can also fly across to Savanna from KMIA in 30 minutes.

BY ROAD:

From Johannesburg or Pretoria:

• Take the N12 or N4 highway to Nelspruit.

• When you enter Nelspruit, turn left at the traffic light and follow the signboards towards White River

• From White River, take the R40 to Hazyview.

• From Hazyview, turn right (if coming from White River) onto the R536. Sign boards to Kruger National Park and Kruger Gate.

• After approximately 34 km, turn left onto a dirt road to Huntington. There are a number of signs to various lodges such as Ulusaba, Idube, Exeter and of course Savanna.

• Turn left onto the dirt road and travel for about 10 kms until you reach a large intersection, where you will notice small signs on the left indicating the lodges.

• Turn right here and follow this road for 1.8 km. At T junction turn left and after about 600m, turn left again.

• Follow this road for about 1 km until you arrive at Newington Gate, where you need to pay R120 per vehicle plus R30 per guest entrance fee. The entrance fee can only be confirmed at the time of making your reservation (prices subject to change).

• Keep the slips, as you will need it on your departure.

• At the first robot, turn right towards Hazyview onto the R40.

• From Hazyview, turn right (if coming from White River) onto the R536. Sign boards to Kruger National Park and Kruger Gate.
