Phelwana Game Lodge

Overview

Phewlana Game Lodge is perfectly situated in the Hoedspruit area, Limpopo Province, South Africa. A mere 40 Km from the Kruger National Parks Orpen Gate, The Blyde River Canyon and the nearby Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Phelwana is the perfect destination for guests wanting to relax in the South African Bushveld.

Accommodation

A 46 Sleeper Luxury Game Lodge, we offer our guests a variety of accommodation offerings in a tented camp and bush villas all with private swimming pools. Enjoy a variety of activities such as bird watching, game drives, bush walks, cycling and fishing in this leisurely environment or arrange day trips to the surrounding area to see what South Africa has to offer.

Wildlife

At Phelwana we have a large selection of plains animals. Such species include: Wildebeest, Impala, Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Buffalo, Duiker, Rooi Hartebeest, Reed buck, Warthog, Hippo, Waterbuck, Kudu.

Bird Species:

Bateleur Eagle, Fish Eagle, Hornbill, Hoopoe, Pearl Spotted Owl, Sunbirds, Lilac-Breasted Rollers, Kingfishers, Starlings and many more.

Nocturnal Species:

Leopard, Civet Cats, Spotted Genet, Honey Badger, “Nag Apies”, Porcupine, Black-Backed Jackal & Side Striped Jackal.

Activities & Facilities

Bush Walks

Phelwana offers guests two walking trails.

Cycling

Guests are welcome to bring their own bicycles and cycle around our reserve at their own leisure. As there is no Big 5, guests must be aware of the resident buffalos and hippos whilst travelling through the bush. Mountain bikes are available for hire at the Lodge.

Fishing

As we have three dams, Phelwana, Hippo and Nyala Dam, guests are welcome to test their hand at fishing. Our dams are host to very large Cat fish and Carp, which provide good fun in the surroundings of the beautiful Bushveld.

Game Drives

Game drives are offered. Please ensure with Reception for drives will be available in the morning and late afternoon. Refreshments and light snacks will be offered to our guests. Please ensure you bring your camera and something warm weather depending.

Conference Facilities

Phelwana also offers the ideal venue for Bushveld Weddings, Birthday Parties and Conferences.

Facilities & Amenities

Restaurant:

Breakfasts are served daily in the Phelwana Room. A choice of Full English and Continental Breakfast are offered to guests between the hours of 7h30 and 10h00.

High tea is served between 14h30 and 16h00 in the afternoon.

As in true family tradition, dinners are a great way to sit down and share the happenings of the day and no better way than enjoying a traditional cooked meal with your favourite bottle of wine. At Phelwana only the best produce is sourced thereby offering great quality and presentation making your dining experience a memorable one. Diners are served at 19h30 from a preselected menu.

Bar & Lapa

The Phelwana Bar and Lapa remain a pivotal attraction to enjoy the beautiful bushveld evenings under the African stars and around a crackling fire. Guests are encouraged to make their way down to the Lapa in the evenings after dinner to enjoy an after dinner coffee or liqueur.

There is no better experience that sitting around a fire, listening to all the bush noises and if you are lucky you might even hear resident jackal making their soulful calls.

Wedding Venue

Phelwana is the ideal venue for your special bush wedding. Catering for up to 60 guests for a wedding reception and can accommodate 46 guests on the property for the night of the wedding. Your special day is hosted at the Main Lodge or at various beautiful locations on the farm.

Wedding packages can be tailored to each couples individual needs and personalised requirements and include wedding coordination as well as all service providers.
