Ngala Game Reserve occupies a scenic spot on the border of the Kruger National Park, a 15 000 hectare range of some of the most amazing wildlife spotting opportunities anywhere in Africa. As one of the first concessions to be officially incorporated into the exclusive greater Kruger National Park, it enjoys otherwise unheard of traversing rights to this spectacular area. With first class luxury facilities, a minimum impact contruction, and a genuine sense of the adventure native to the Kruger, Ngala is a stunning safari getaway that is second to none.

Ngala Tented Safari Camp is an attractive, shaded holiday destination, nestled softly into the bush near Ngala Game Lodge. This luxury venue overlooks the Timbavati riverbed, with high quality facilities and fantastic service. Guests reside in a series of comfortable luxury safari tents, set upon wooden decks and right at home in the ensconcing wilderness.

Six generous safari tents are provided for accommodation at Ngala Tented Safari Camp, sporting outdoor showers, wooden viewing decks, overhead fans and electric blankets for use in colder temperatures, and outdoor showers.

Wildlife

Ngala Game Reserve proudly boasts its own Big Five residents, as well as blue wildebeest, and Burchell’s zebra, impala, hippo, giraffe, duiker and kudu. Added to this are the 260 species of bird, including Woodland Kingfisher, Marico Sunbird, and Spotted-backed Weaver.

Children
Children 0 – 5 years of age, sharing with 1 or 2 adults stay free of charge.
Children 6 – 16 years of age, sharing with 1 or 2 adults pay 50% of full adult rate.
Children younger than 5 years of age are not permitted on game drives.
Children 6 years of age and older are permitted on game drives at Lodge Manager’s discretion.
Childminders are available but must be booked on the day of arrival.

Directions

BY ROAD:

From Johannesburg to Ngala Main Lodge

• Take the N12/N4 through Witbank, then turn left onto the R540 to Belfast.

• Turn right towards Dullstroom and Lydenburg.

• Take the R36 to Ohrigstad, through the JG Strijdom Tunnel and into Hoedspruit.

• At the second stop street turn right onto the R40 to Klaserie.

• After approximately 7km turn left at the Timbavati sign and continue for 31km.

• At the Klaserie river the tarred road ends, continue on the gravel road to the Timbavati Control Gate.

• Once inside, follow the signs to Ngala. At the Timbavati gate, sign the visitors book and pay R160 road levy per vehicle (plus R30 for a trailer).

• Please Note: an additional R90 conservation fee is now payable at the gate.

• Turn right at the Ngala sign 2km after the gate.

• After 6km turn left and continue for 7km. At the Ngala sign turn right for another 2km to the Ngala Lodge.Driving time from Johannesburg is 5.5 hours on excellent roads to the Timbavati entrance gate.

From Nelspruit to Ngala Main Lodge

• Take the R40 towards Whiteriver Pass through Whiteriver and continue through Hazyview, past Acornhoek towards Klaserie (all on the R40.

• Just before the concrete over-head railway bridge at Klaserie, turn right towards Hoedspruit – please note that this is still the R40.

• 7km before Hoedpruit, turn right towards Eastgate Airport, Ngala and Timbavati Private Nature Reserve.

• At the Klaserie river the tarred road ends, continue on the gravel road to the Timbavati Control Gate.

• Once inside, follow the signs to NgalaAt the Timbavati gate, sign the visitors book and pay the road levy per vehicle (extra for a trailer).

• Please Note: an additional conservation fee is now payable at the gate

• Turn right at the Ngala sign 2km after the gate.

• After 6km turn left and continue for 7km.

• At the Ngala sign turn right for another 2km to the Lodge

• The entrance fee can only be confirmed at the time of making your reservation (Prices are subject to change)

• BY AIR:

• Ngala airstrip is not registered.

• Daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg International Airport (JNB) to Ngala private airstrip, or from JNB to Eastgate Airport followed by a one-hour road transfer to Ngala Game Lodge

• Daily scheduled flights from Cape Town to Hoedspruit via Johannesburg to Eastgate Airport, followed by a road transfer to the Lodge

• Scheduled flights from JNB to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, followed by a 30-minute light-aircraft flight to Ngala airstrip

• Daily charter flights between Ngala, Londolozi and Phinda are available

• Transfers to lodge are available
