Welgevonden Private Game Reserve, the malaria-free haven for wildlife surrounded by the incredible natural beauty of the Waterberg in Limpopo, is the home of Ekuthuleni Lodge. Buttressed by rock formations on the southern and north-eastern escarpments, the lodge offers a private 180 degree view of the stunning savannah plains that carpet the Waterberg.

Ekuthuleni is a destination that invites you to experience pure African luxury. Translated as “place of peace”, the lodge lives up to its title as a bastion of tranquility that is shared by not only an exclusive group of guests, but the Big Five and many other species of birds and mammals.

Accommodation

Five private suites are all romantically furnished in cozy neutrals, with double beds and gorgeous natural materials, under thatched roofs. Glass doors open onto private patios, where animals are spotted from the comfort of your deck chair.

The luxuriously appointed rooms are completed by a private courtyard that shelters an outdoor shower and a bathtub big enough for two: the perfect setting for sipping a glass of champagne while you watch sun set over the plain.

The intimacy and privacy of Ekuthuleni’s suites allow guests to enjoy spectacular sightings of Big Five game in pristine natural surrounds from their doorsteps.

Wildlife

The abundance of indigenous flora and wild fauna of the Limpopo Province envelop Welgevonden’s 35,000 hectares, which adjoin the Marakele National Park. In this sanctuary, lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino roam free, content in their natural habitat, together with antelope, zebra, giraffe, baboon, hyena, and the rare aardwolf.

Because of its size, the region encompasses an astounding diversity of natural habitats ranging from riverine scrub, woodland, savannah grasslands to fertile valleys whose rocky slopes have been carved by winding rivers through the ages.
