The Okavango Delta braids across 15 000 km² of Botswana’s Kalahari Desert, providing an oasis to an abundance of wildlife. Moremi Game Reserve, located in the central and eastern regions of the delta, is an area of startling contrasts with a waterless centre of savannah and dry woodland, while the remainder is covered by lily-filled waterways, scattered flood plains, lagoons, riverine forest and palm fringed islands. The diverse habitats make a magnificent wildlife sanctuary for a multitude of plants, mammals, birds and fish.

Camp Moremi is located on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta in the Moremi Game Reserve. The elegant thatch and timber lodge nestles beneath a lush canopy of ancient ebony trees on the banks of the picturesque Xakanaxa Lagoon. The elevated camp offers expansive views over the lagoon and the floodplain beyond, which teems with wildlife. Camp Moremi prides itself on personalised service and luxurious accommodation, assuring guests of a wonderful safari experience.

Accommodation

Camp Moremi offers eleven elegant African style tents, each elevated on a timber platform overlooking the lagoon. Sisal mats and bright rugs complement the African teak furniture, and a private viewing deck affords guests a secluded spot for relaxing with a sundowner while watching the wildlife drift down to the lagoon for a drink. Each tent has a private bathroom with a large glass-doored shower. The Honeymoon Suite is discretely located at the end of the camp – assuring tranquillity and seclusion. Running through the centre of this unit is an old jackalberry tree, giving the suite a magical and romantic ambience.

Large numbers of plains game and predators are found throughout the year. After the recent introduction of rhino to this concession, the area is home to the Big Five. Predators abound, and include several lion prides, leopards, cheetah, hyena, and the rare and endangered Wild dog.

Large herds of elephant and buffalo frequent the area and blue wildebeest, steenbok, giraffe, greater kudu, impala, Burchell’s zebra and tsessebe abound. The region’s flood levels attract the much-sought after water-dwelling antelope species such as sitatunga and red lechwe.

The area is home to over 400 species of birds, including the African fish eagle, Bateleur, Crested and Wattled cranes, Black-tailed godwit, Sacred ibis, Green pigeon and the rare and elusive Pel’s fishing owl.
