Day 1: Fly to the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve

Begin your journey in Johannesburg with a scheduled flight from OR Tambo International Airport to the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. You will be met and transferred to Singita Ebony Lodge.

Singita Ebony Lodge, located on the Sand River, is a fresh and contemporary interpretation of the classic safari lodge, combining tented camp and bush lodge style. Day 2: Game Drives, Environmental Walks & Relaxation

Enjoy rewarding game viewing on morning and afternoon drives as you explore this striking & dramatic wildlife reserve for the Big 5 and hosts of other classic African animals. During your stay at Singita Ebony Lodge, you are likely to spot a great variety of wildlife, including species such as leopard, lion, rhino, large herds of buffalo, elephant, reedbuck, hyena, hippopotamus, nyala, cheetah, wild dogs and many types of birds.

Your days here will start early with coffee and a light breakfast before you head out on a morning game drive with a knowledgable guide and tracker. Relaxation is important between game drives, facilities at your lodge includes a lounger by the swimming pool and lounge area or enjoy a treatment in the Spa. Outdoor pavilion decks – ideal for dining and relaxing – are suspended off the river banks as if hanging in the trees.

Day 3: Say goodbye to the Sabi Sand

Day 1:
Johannesburg to Sabi Sand 

We arrange your air transfer from Johannesburg to Skukuza Airport, with a short road transfer reaching Lion Sands River Lodge in time to freshen up and have something to eat. Head out with your ranger and tracker for the afternoon game drive through the reserve.

En route, you’ll stop for a sundowner drink and will have a chance to stretch your legs as you watch the sun set.

As darkness falls, the nocturnal animals of the bush come out. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge. Arrival at the lodge is followed by some time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner.

Day 2:
Full day in the reserve (all meals included)

Today you will rise at sunrise have tea or coffee and rusks before setting off on a morning game drive.  This is when the wildlife is most active, and the temperature more moderate.

Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, the time in between safari activities can be used for a range of other activities: relax at the pool, read a book on your own viewing deck or get yourself pampered at the Lalamuka Spa.

Later in the afternoon head out on a game drive, which may continue beyond dusk. The guides are able to navigate through dense bush, following the tracks of animals. With a limited number of vehicles on each property, and strict criteria governing sightings, guests are able to spend extended periods of time watching wildlife in its natural habitat. Your day will invariably end with a good dinner and some reminiscing about the day’s sightings.

Day 3:
Lion Sands River Lodge to Johannesburg (breakfast included)

Today will be another early start for a final morning game drive to discover a world usually only reserved for your screen during ‘Animal Planet’. After the drive enjoy breakfast at your lodge and then be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Johannesburg to fly home or continue on your travels elsewhere.

En route, you’ll stop for a sundowner drink and will have a chance to stretch your legs as you watch the sun set over the distant peaks of the Drakensberg mountains.

As darkness falls, the nocturnal animals of the bush come out. The skilled tracker will scan the landscape using a spotlight, which illuminates animals’ eyes. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge. Arrival is at the lodge is usually around 7pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner.

Day 2:
Full day in the reserve (all meals included)

Today you will rise between 5am and 5h30am have tea or coffee and rusks before setting off on a morning game drive. The cooler morning temperatures mean that the game in the reserve is often more active, and the softer light makes for great images.

Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, after which you will have time to relax by the pool and dip into a good book, or enjoy the rest of the lodge’s facilities.

After a decadent high tea, you will head out on your afternoon game drive, which may continue beyond dusk, then your day will invariably end with a good dinner and some reminiscing about the day’s sightings.

Day 3:

Day 1 – Johannesburg/Greater Kruger National Park

Your Kruger Safari start at approximately 5:30am this morning. You will be picked up from your hotel (please advise hotel details prior to departure).

Depart Johannesburg, the “City of Gold” and head off on an adventure of a lifetime.  A truly unique African experience unfolds as you enter the Greater Kruger National Park ecosystem arriving at your Lodge in time for lunch (570km, approx. 8-9 hours’ travel time including stops along the way).

After some time to settle in, head off on a late afternoon/evening Big Five game drive in open 4×4 vehicles in a private game reserve.  Sundowner drinks (not included in the price) are enjoyed at one of the waterholes before continuing your game drive into the night.

After an exciting evening, return to the lodge to enjoy a traditional South African meal around a log fire.

Located in the greater Kruger, our accommodation is wonderfully intimate, with just 14 twin-share rooms.  Rooms are constructed from local materials and are tastefully decorated and comfortably appointed.  The lodge also offers a cosy bar, perfect for chatting with the other guests over a drink or two.  There is also a crystal-clear swimming pool for a refreshing post-safari swim.

Day 2 – Kruger National Park

One of the largest game reserves in Southern Africa, Kruger National Park is home to over 500 bird species, 100 species of reptiles and 150 mammal species, including the Big Five and the endangered African wild dog.

An early rise, as we make our way to the Kruger.

Our wildlife experience begins as soon as we enter the park, heading into prime game viewing areas where we hope to catch a glimpse of some of the amazing animals found inside the park, including the Big Five.

Enjoy breakfast at one of the picnic spots before continuing through the park. Our entire day will be spent game viewing, bird watching and stopping off at the various waterholes en route.

We depart the park in the late afternoon and return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation.

Day 3

Rise early and head out on a morning bush walk.  Guided by a qualified nature guide, learn about nature’s finer details like bird, tree and spoor identification.

Morning and evening game drives afford guests the opportunity to see some of Kruger’s most beautiful natural sights and its abundance of wildlife, which includes the Big Five. At night, you will fall asleep to the sounds of the encircling nature.

One of Africa’s most famous national parks, there are 147 mammal species found in Kruger, more than any other wildlife reserve in Africa! Of these the Big five are of course included.

On this safari we include open vehicle drives and a sunset game drive. This safari gives you an amazing African wildlife experience.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kruger National Park

We leave on your Camping Kruger Park Safari from your chosen destination (Johannesburg, Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (Nelspruit)).

You will go out on your first Game Drive (SANParks Sunset Drive) after settling into your accommodation. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal African Wildlife. The Kruger Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. Note that this is not a private Game Drive and that other guests may be joining you on this drive.

(Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)

A three course dinner is included and will be served al fresco at our private camp within Pretoriuskop Rest Camp. Wine is served with dinner but guests are welcome to bring along additional / alternative drinks which can be purchased at the Kruger Park shop.

Day 2: Full day in the Park

Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there and seeing animals! The time you go on your Game Drive varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. We have tea or coffee with muffins and fruit before departing on the Game Drive which will take approximately 3-4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!

On returning to Pretoriuskop brunch will be ready at our camp. You then have time to enjoy a swim, visit the park shop which includes African curios, general food items and drinks, take a walk around the camp, or simply relax at the viewing platform in front of the restaurant.

After a siesta we set off on the afternoon Kruger Park game drive. All game drives are conducted in specially adapted 4×4 open game drive vehicles to allow our guests the best possible vantage point.

Day 3: End of Kruger Safari

The final day of your Kruger Park Safari will be your last chance to see the Big Five Animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast we depart to your chosen destination (Johannesburg, Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport)

Accommodation

Spacious dome tents are set up in Pretoriuskop rest camp which are equipped with beds, mattresses, linen, pillows, duvets and amenities provided. Ablutions are shared and serviced regularly.On one of the mornings you have the option of visiting select attractions along the Panorama Route instead of joining the morning game drive (not applicable to 2 day safari).

Pretoriuskop offers some of the most well-known and oldest Kruger National Park accommodation, providing guests with a sense of nostalgia as they surround themselves with this vestige of the area’s past.

Single supplement:
A single supplement will be charged if a guest travelling in a group requires single room accommodation.
The single supplement will be waivered for solo travellers only.

Notes:

On safari, you will be accommodated inside the Kruger National Park and do not stay outside the Kruger, unless forced to do so because of availability.

It is important to note that this is not a private safari and more than likely there will be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles as well as in the dining facility.

Please note that sunset game drive times are subject to change and availability on the day. These drives are conducted by SAN PARKS, by one of their rangers and in one of their vehicles. There will most likely be other guests on this drive. Children under 6 years of age are not allowed on SAN Parks open game drive vehicles.

Although children are welcome on safaris, we reserve the right not to allow younger children on normal game drives. This will be entirely up to the guide’s discretion and will be in order to ensure a pleasurable game drive for all guests (including the parents). Should this be the case, a bush bumble (kiddies game drive) will be conducted after the normal game drive, especially for the kids. Babysitting is not offered and as such one of the parents will have to stay behind to watch the children. Private game drives for families can be arranged at an extra charge.

Guests flying out of OR Tambo Airport on the last day are reminded to not book any flights earlier than 19h00 (domestic) or 20h00 (international) in order to allow for time to get to the airport. We recommend that you rather stay over in Johannesburg if possible. Since we cannot guarantee the arrival time in Johannesburg on the last day we will not be held responsible for reimbursements of flight tickets, should we arrive later than expected. Guests flying out of Nelspruit on the last day may, depending on their flight details, not have enough time to see the Panorama Route. Private transfers for guests with early flights can be arranged in advance at an extra charge.
