Overview

Pafuri Camp is situated in the Makuleke Concession of the Northern Kruger National Park. Guests can take part in a variety of activities including guided walks and game drives. One can also take advantage of specialist birding walks or drives to explore the history and archaeology of the area. Wildlife viewing from this camp can be rather extraordinary with large herds of elephant located in the area during the dry months, there is also a healthy population of buffalo and Pafuri Camp is known for regular sightings of leopard and lion due to its fantastic location on the Luvuvhu River.

Accommodation

This comfortable camp has 19 luxury designer tents with en-suite bathrooms. There are seven ‘family tents’ that sleep up to four persons, making this a 52-bed camp. The tents offer gorgeous views over the Luvuvhu River, there is also a communal area with a swimming pool – for those balmy days when you need to cool off.

Wildlife

Wildlife viewing from this camp can be rather extraordinary with large herds of elephant located in the area during the dry months, there is also a healthy population of buffalo and Pafuri Camp is known for regular sightings of leopard and lion due to its fantastic location on the Luvuvhu River.

A trip to Pafuri will produce plenty of nyala and impala, and possibly some bushbuck. Game can prove sparse but kudu, nyala, buffalo and Sharpe’s grysbok thrive in this habitat.

Wild dog, elephant and lion are also frequently recorded.

Children of all age are welcome at Pafuri Camp.
Please note that this camp is not fenced and children must be under adult supervision at all times.
Please Note:
This is a malarial area and although the malaria risk is low in the dry months we strongly recommend malaria prophylaxis.

Directions

From Johannesburg

You need to make your way to the Punda Maria Gate (Kruger National Park) and Luvuvhu crossing: It is about 540km from Johannesburg to the Punda Maria Gate. Once in the Kruger National Park, it is about 60kms from the Punda Maria Gate to the site, via the Luvuvhu River bridge. The total distance is therefore about 600km.

  • Take the N1 North to Polokwane;
  • At Polokwane, take the R81 north-east via Mooketsi and Giyani to the T-junction with the R524;
  • Turn right on the R524 and proceed to the Punda Maria Gate;
  • In the Kruger National Park, take the H13-1 to the T-junction with the H1-8;
  • Turn left on the H1-8 and proceed north to the bridge over the Luvuvhu River;
  • For an alternative route to the Punda Maria Gate:
  • Take the N1 to Polokwane
  • At Makhado (Louis Trichardt) link up with the R524 and follow this route for ±140km. That will take you to the gate.
  • Please meet your guide at Pafuri Camp.
