Accommodation

Karen Blixen Camp comprises 22 large luxury canvas tents each placed with undisturbed view along the Mara River. The stylish restaurant, the reception, the lounge and bar and the gift shop with internet are set on a raised wooden deck and furnished with accurate reproductions of Karen Blixens private furniture to fit in with the cozy atmosphere.

The beautiful laid swimming pool offers relaxation and even a little exercise in-between game drives. Our resident masseuse offers a wide range of wellness and beauty treatments.

Enjoy a drink while overlooking the wildlife at the Mara riverKaren Blixen Camp is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a gin and tonic overlooking the Mara River and the wildlife coming to drink, whilst exchanging stories about the adventures of the day.

Each tent is en-suite and furnished with a large comfortable bed, Persian rugs and a cozy armchair giving you the ultimate in camping luxury. The private bathroom has a flush toilet, twin wash hand basins and a romantic outside shower with amazing view to the sky. Water is heated using solar panels to avoid any use of firewood and thus conserving the Mara Woodlands. Electricity is provided in all tents 24 hours a day by extended solar panel system and battery storing bank.

Wildlife

Africa holds the very last frontiers to encounter the spectacular and truly beautiful sceneries of wild nature. And the Masai Mara is most definitely one of these God blessed places.

Endless of savannah changing with golden tanned rolling plains. Riverine forests and shady acacia trees. Vast numbers of herbivores as large elephants, tall giraffes, zebras, slender gazelles and antelopes, graze the plentiful grasslands of the Mara. With the big cat predators luring in the bush always ready to hunt down their favored prey.

Great Wildebeest Migration

The Masai Mara Ecosystem plays host to one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife sceneries; the great wildebeest migration. Over 1 million of wildebeests cross the Mara River in the months of June to August to graze and mate on the lush green grasslands of the Masai Mara, before returning to the Serengeti at the Ngoro-Ngoro crater in the middle of October to November.

Mara North Conservancy

Karen Blixen Camp is situated in the beautiful Mara North Conservancy. The conservancy forms the vital northwestern zone within the Masai Mara Ecosystem and borders the Masai Mara National Game Reserve to the south.

Mara North Conservancy is key dispersal area of the great wildebeest migration and offers a very important habitat area for a unique concentration of African wild animals, birds, rich vegetation and open savannah.

Conferences

Karen Blixen is an eco-friendly luxury camp that gives a sense of the exiting explorer days when the savannah was seldom visited and elaborate and comfortable camps were set up providing a luxurious and stylish retreat after each day’s adventure.
Leave the hustle and bustle of the city and opt for a quiet and serene location for your meetings at The Kikao Centre.

The Kikao Centre can comfortably accommodate up to 60 persons in a theatre style set up . It is fully equipped with all requisite meeting equipment like LCD projector, wall large screen, White Boards and stationery. It can also accommodate 40 persons in either board room or a class room set up.
