Overview

The Bazaruto Archipelago, a premier diving and fishing destination, comprises of a group of small islands situated off the coast of Mozambique near the town of Vilanculos. Situated on the western side of Bazaruto Island, the largest of the six islands in the Bazaruto Archipelago, Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa offers understated luxury and a superb location.

The tropical climate, unspoilt scenery, pristine beaches and clear turquoise waters, make Indigo Bay the ideal getaway for families, honeymooners and all those in search of the quintessential island experience.

Accommodation

The resort offers 30 beach chalets and 14 luxury bay-view villas. Each chalet and villa is equipped with air-conditioning, mosquito screens, en-suite bathroom, satellite TV and a mini-bar. The units have outdoor showers and recessed sea-facing oval baths. Guests may choose from king size or twin chalets. The beachfront honeymoon chalet with a private splash pool and lounge, and just 20 metres from the beach, is set apart from the rest of the chalets. The luxurious Executive Suite and Presidential Villa offer 5-star quality and service. The Presidential Villa has a lounge, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a spa bath and private swimming pool.

Wildlife

The east coast of the islands faces onto the deep waters of the Mozambique Channel and below the surface are wild water reefs filled with pods of dolphins, the rare dugong, and several species of marine turtle. Over 2000 fish species can be found in the marine eco-system surrounding the islands, which was proclaimed as a National Park in 1971. The rich variety of marine life includes humpback whales, marine turtles, spinner, giant lobster, humpback and bottlenose dolphins, marlins and barracudas. The islands are home to about 45 reptile and amphibian species.The region offers over 160 species of birds, endemic butterflies, suni antelope and freshwater crocodiles. Various low tide areas are excellent for sightings of crab plover, gulls and waders, and the large sand dunes and freshwater lakes provide nesting grounds for black-winged flamingos.

Children 
Child zero to two years of age (00 – 02), complimentary sharing with 2 Adults.
Child three to eleven years of age (03 -11), will be charged 75% of the Single Adult Rate in their own room
Child three to eleven years of age (03 -11), will be charged 30% of the Adult Rate if sharing the room (Limited to 1 child when sharing with 2 Adults).
Child twelve years of age (12) and above is charged as an adult.

There is a children’s center which is open daily from 09am to 05pm and is equipped with a variety of children’s toys and games. There will be a supervisor on duty during peak season only. Children of all ages are welcome, however, children younger than 03 years must be accompanied by a parent or child minder. Child minding services are available on request at an additional charge.
