Accommodation

Each of the eight individually decorated suites cleverly uses natural colours and textiles to bring the outdoors in, creating a luxurious bush feel. Each suite offers a full en-suite bathroom and additional outdoor shower for bathing by starlight. A fireplace offers cosy warmth on chilly evenings, and the spacious, secluded timber deck and private plunge pool, provide spectacular views of the lake and the visiting wildlife. Maria Brink’s stunning contemporary original artworks provide a personal touch to the décor. The spacious luxury suites side can comfortably accommodate up to two extra beds for children under the age of 12.

Offering two luxuriously appointed inter-leading en-suite rooms, the Charlsy Suite is the perfect option for families or friends travelling together. The spacious common area and viewing deck with swimming pool provide spaces to linger together and share experiences of this perfect wilderness.

The large (470 m2) exclusive Chitwa House offers two en-suite bedrooms, each with an outdoor shower and private deck. The spacious unpretentious African chic lounge and dining areas offer sumptuous furnishings and refined luxury, and a dedicated house butler, game ranger and safari vehicle allow guests to tailor make a unique, personalised safari experience. A private chef is available for preparing delectable meals in Chitwa House’s fully equipped kitchen.

Wildlife

The lake is a popular drinking hole, attracting a large diversity of wildlife including elephant, buffalo, giraffe, waterbuck and the resident hippos.

Guests frequently sight the Big Five during their stay, along with cheetah, hippo, wild dog and a large variety of antelope. There are regular sightings of rare species, such as the roan antelope, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest and wild dog. Evening game drives reveal the more rarely seen nocturnal creatures, such as porcupine, aardwolf, genet, serval, white tailed mongoose, civet and brown hyena.

Birdlife is prolific with over 450 species recorded. Raptor sightings include Martial, Tawny and Fish Eagles as well as Steppe Buzzards. Southern Ground Hornbills have nesting sites close to the lodge, and iridescently plumaged birds, such as the Lilac-breasted roller, Southern Carmine Bee-eaters, and Malachite kingfishers are often sighted.

• Children under the age of  3 stay free of charge
• Children from the age of 3 -5 will be charged 25%.
• Children from the age of 6 -11 will be charged 50%
• Children 12 years and older sharing with adults will be charged full adult rate.
• Children under 6 will not be allowed on game drives unless parents have the sole use of the vehicle

• BY AIR:

• Regional Feeder Airline – offers direct flights to smaller towns and regional centres within Southern Africa and convenient connections through their alliance with SAA, their Star Alliance Partners and other international carriers throughout Southern Africa and the world.

• Airlink operates convenient daily direct flights from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town to Nelspruit Kruger.

• Airlink links Kruger with Livingstone in Zambia directly permitting travellers to enjoy the wonders of both the Kruger Park and the Victoria falls.

BY ROAD:

• The road transfer from Johannesburg to Chitwa Chitwa takes about 5 hours.

• The lodge is in the north of the Sabi Sand and access if via Gowrie Gate, near the Orpen Gate of the Kruger National Park.

• Chitwa Chitwa is a scenic 3-hour drive from Nelspruit and about an hour from Hoedspruit.

• Road transfers from Hoedspruit can be arranged by Eastgate Safaris.
